400-Mile Long Path Project
The Long Path is a 360-mile (580-kilometer) long-distance hiking trail beginning at the George Washington Bridge in Fort Lee, New Jersey and ending at john Thatcher State Park in the Albany area. Including popular hiking attractions such as the New Jersey Palisades, Harriman State Park, the Shawangunk Ridge and the Catskill Mountains, it offers hikers a diversity of environments from suburbia and sea-level salt marshes along the Hudson to wilderness and boreal forest on Catskill summits 4,000 feet (1,220 m) in elevation.
I've decided to hike the entirety of the official Long Path and additional nearby detours such as the complete Shawangunk Ridge Trail and Devil's Path over the course of about two years. Follow along with my project!
