2017-01-21 - Delaware and Raritan Canal Walk
My friends David, Neil, and Tom joined me for a 36-mile walk along the Delaware and Raritan Canal Trail southbound from New Brunswick to Trenton. Although we had all hiked this trail before, none of us had done the full walk in this direction. We greeted one another at the New Brunswick train station and drove to the start of the trail. I loved the parts of the trail that are bordered by water on both sides.
We walked at a fast pace and lost Tom for a bit when he left to go find a water fountain. David dropped out near Princeton but the rest of us headed towards the finish.
I started feeling tired towards the end of the hike and was unable to keep up the fast pace. Neil and Tom were kind enough to wait for me, and we finished in Trenton after sunset. Although the walk was monotonous in some ways, I didn't really mind and had a great time anyway. After someone begged Neil for money at the Trenton train station, I congratulated him on looking like the richest person in the train station. We all took the same train home but to different stops. We took a total of 11 hours 40 minutes to complete the 36-mile hike.
