2015-05-30 - ME - Day 3 - Damariscotta to Naples
Brian and I cycled out of Damariscotta at 7:15 am. We crossed the bridge over Sheepscot River and visited the Castle Tucker mansion in Wisscasset.
Afterward we rode into Bath, where we took our first rest stop. Brian bought two cups of coffee and we both got stuffed croissants. That was delicious. We also met up with Andy and Catherine, who had started earlier than us, and Reed who had started later. We all took off from Bath together.
The five of us kept a good pace, enjoying the bike path into Brunswick. Olivia and Zack photo-bombed us, then decided to join us for a bit before they stopped for lunch in Brunswick.
We took a break at a gas station and then rode on. I was getting tired from the hills. About twenty-five miles from our campsite, we stopped to eat a late lunch at Rosanna's. The food was great and the servings large
The ride into town was a bit painful. I felt every little uphill sap my energy. We separated for a bit during which I went to a store to refill my bottles.
The five of us met back up together, and rode around town looking for ice cream. A local resident recommended a place and we ordered there and went down to the water. We dipped our feet in and relaxed. There were a still few miles to go to the campsite.
We were the first ones to the lakeside campsite and picked the best spot. It was a great place with beautiful views, showers, and a beach. Reed made a great fire, and someone we met named Al Smith offered homemade beer to everyone.
