2015-05-27 - ANP - Part IV - Cadillac Mountain and Park Loop
My new friend Brian and I decided to cycle up Cadillac Mountain and then do the entire Park Loop. After a 6.6 mile ride, almost entirely uphill, we reached the parking lot. Brian was sweating like crazy and switched to a short-sleeved shirt. We walked the 0.1 mile-long trail by the gift shop up to the actual peak of Cadillac Mountain.
On the Park Loop we stopped for blueberry sodas and to take a look at Thunder Hole. The person working in the store said that he had only ever heard it thunder twice.
Jordan Pond House has been serving tea and popovers for over a hundred years. From Jordan House, we rode fast back to town. Through the last section we were going at over thirty miles per hour. The entire ride was just over thirty-two miles.
Soon after getting back, we had the orientation for Bike The US For MS Northern Tier. It was great to meet everyone and learn about their motivations for doing this, and also to find out more about what life will be like for the next sixty-nine days. Don founded the organization because his mother has MS. Cassie has been involved for four years because one of her best friends has it. It's just such a wonderful group of people.
The ride will start tomorrow morning. Sixty-eight miles is the plan from Bar Harbor, Maine to Belfast, Maine!
