2015-04-26 - Old Croton Aqueduct Walk III - Part II
Back on the trail!
We passed by a weir that allowed workers to let water from the aqueduct out into the stream it crosses. This would help let out excess water and also allow workers to do repairs.
We walked past the Rockefeller State Park Preserve, originally part of the Rockefeller estate, and crossed the Archville Bridge, a 1998 replacement of the original crossing removed in 1924.
In Scarborough we saw the most beautiful trees, flowers, and houses but no place to stop for food.
Instead, we stopped at this church for a bathroom and lunch break. Everyone shared food and it was quite nice. But by then we were late for our rendezvous with the Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct, waiting for us at Ossining.
