2015-04-19 - Old Croton Aqueduct Walk II - Part I
Due to certain issues, the start of our walk this Sunday was quite delayed. Most of us met in Moshulu Parkway and we walked around the south end of Van Cortlandt Park to meet up with three others at the Van Cortlandt House Museum. We numbered fifteen total, including three other people from my company.
After the introduction about the walk and garbage cleanup, we started on Putnam and South County Trailway heading north. We saw lakes, bikers, soccer players, and a snake. We also filled up bags of trash along the way.
From the trail we turned west towards Yonkers. One long stretch of highway, a blocked section due to mudslide, a community garden, and a bridge later, we arrived at our food and restroom stop.
A number of people ran inside to the bathroom without asking, angering the staff. They were more cheerful after they realized we were buying food. We found the pool table the walkers heard about during the walk the previous month.
A brief rest, a bite to eat, and we were off, northward!
